Many pageant fans were shocked about the separation of the local franchise of Miss Universe Philippines to the 56th-year old Binibining Pilipinas Pageant which also owned the local franchise for Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International, Miss Globe, and Miss Intercontinental.

According to the statement released by Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc last December 10, 2019 "Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc (BPCI) and its ExCom headed by Ms. Stella Marquez de Araneta, Ms. Conchitina Bernardo, Ms. Betsy Westendorp Brias, Mr. Raymond Villanueva and Ms.Irene Jose, wish to inform everyone that after 55 years of nurturing and protecting the brand, Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has decided not to renew its license with BPCI, BPCI will continue to focus on its charitable initiatives and the staging of the annual Binibining Pilipinas Pageant – the fairest and most prestigious beauty pageant in the country,".  BPCI however, is proud of producing 55 Miss Universe Philippines winners having four (4) Titleholder winners, nine (9) runners up and ten (10) top twenty finishers.

Meanwhile, the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) handed the license to the former Miss Universe Philippines and a Miss Universe 2011 Runner-Up Shamcey Supsup-Lee assigned as a National Director of the local franchise and Pageant Trainer Expert Jonas Gaffud as National Creative Director. The new Miss Universe Philippines pageant is currently conducting a nationwide search for the inaugural edition of the pageant. On the statement released by the pageant's Facebook page, the Philippines will be well represented in this year's edition. Pageant fans were very excited as the format and delegation of the contestant will be Miss USA alike where each of the State has its own representative, having nearly a hundred contestants if each of the Province and highly-urbanized cities will send each representative on the pageant. The organization also added that they're still accepting walk-in applicants during the pageant screening until January 31, 2020.

Prizes await for the new Queen aside from earning the right to represent the country in Miss Universe pageant are; a guaranteed cash prize and income for the Winner and four (4) runners up. The winner will also live on a new apartment, brand new car with a personal driver, personal styling team and a great platform to launch her advocacy.

This is surely the new era of the Philippine Pageantry. The Final screening will start on February 01, 2020, while the date and venue for the coronation night are yet to announce in the coming days. For more details and announcements, visit the Miss Universe Philippines Facebook Page.
